COMPOSITIONS #1: a micro-performance series

Our first performance of 2019 and the first in our series of micro-concerts, this concert was an intimate one! An evening featuring experimental music, film, and performance, followed by a cupcake and cocktail reception with DJ Saf.

Nocturne Halifax

We re-invented our concert Let Evening Come as part of Halifax’s all night art-fest; transforming it into an interactive performance installation that also featured a micro-classical music concert.

Let Evening Come

A multidisciplinary show that incorporates the music of Chausson, Debussy, Greig, and Strauss, alongside original poetry and contemporary folk song arrangements. We even threw in an accordian, because why not? Featuring performers Caroline Whalen, Ethan Lawler, Frietzen Kenter, Jacob Caines, Megan Johnson, Willem Blois, and Zoë Mackey-Boehner.

A concert of wild music inspired by theatrical and musical mad scenes. With music by Beethoven, Berio and Gounod, as well as the world premiere performance of the newly commissioned composition "Descent into Madness" by Ryan Keebaugh.

Mark the Music: An Homage to the Bard

Every successful second season should open with an homage to the Bard. Come see how Sesquisharp reinterprets Shakespeare, chamber music style. Featuring chamber ensemble, guest vocalists, and a troupe of talented stage folk, this concert will remind you of the power of the written word and the written note. Including Shakespeare-inspired music by Korngold, Stravinsky, Handel and Gabrielli and excerpts from the Bard's most beloved works!

trickpony: One year, one voice, eight composers . . . giddy-up!

trickpony began as a research and creation project dedicated to exploring the development process--from inspiration to composition to rehearsal to performance-- of eight new works for solo voice for soprano Sarah Albu. The resulting work is an electric and daring foray into the possibilities of the human voice. trickpony features the music of Andy Costello, Aura Giles, Sally Norris, Marie-Claire Saindon, Mason Koening, Luke Nickel, Gayle Young, and Elyze Venne-Deshaies.
